Flist!

This is what living in a heteronormative society does to you: despite wanting it, despite looking for clues, I spent the last three or four minutes of the last episode thinking "They're not going to do it. That looks like...but no, they're not going to do it." Even after it ended, the better half turned to me and said "Was that what I thought it was?"

And...the *real* final scene, the one you were waiting for, created by a fan here. For a little closure.

I saw a comment somewhere last night that ran something like this: Avatar was a better series, but Korra captured your heart. I agree that Korra was uneven (were the writers talking about their own experiences when they said that all of life is a bumpy ride?) and that there was something very engaging about Korra, even when it was rushed or dull or painfully off.

Anyways. I may have some more coherent thoughts later on, but for now I wanted to share my joy.

In other news, there's still grading to be done, but I took the night off last night and slept in this morning, and I'm finally feeling a bit more like myself again. I can't work the way I used to--I'm quicker to get tired, less productive, irritable and cranky all the time. I'm just now getting some gifts for family and friends and starting to make our new year's card and catching up with rs_small_gifts and some of the entries at Snupin Santa and holmestice. Thank goodness hoggywartyxmas runs a little later in the month, when life isn't quite so hectic.

Hope you're all doing well as 2014 draws to a close!

I know next to nothing about Korra but all the squee has been making me happy! I'm glad you are happy with it!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

So exciting. I feel a little silly, like I should be more jaded or more savvy about the ways of the world, but I've wanted this for so long--two characters who just happen to fall in love--I'd forgotten how important it was to me.

Hope you're having a lovely holiday week, W! M.

TWO BADARSE FEMALE CHARACTERS WHO HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE THE BEGINNING AND WERE WRITTEN WITH THE POTENTIAL TO BE CATTY/ADVERSARIAL INSTEAD HAD EXCELLENT CHEMISTRY AND ACTUALLY GOT TOGETHER IN THE END. MY SHIP FROM THE BEGINNING WAS ACTUALLY ENDGAME.

I CAN'T COMPREHEND IT AT ALL. THAT'S WHAT. I SQUEED SO HARD THAT MY HOUSEMATE CAME RUNNING UPSTAIRS TO SEE IF I WAS ALRIGHT, AND ALL I COULD SAY WAS "MY BABIES ARE ENDGAME. FOR THE FIRST TIME, MY SHIP FROM THE START IS ENDGAME."

SO NOW ALL I CAN DO IS TYPE IN ALL CAPS APPARENTLY. I'M SORRY. A LITTLE.

*hugshugshugs* I feel a little less silly knowing other folks are as happy and squeeful as we are. Happy new year, K! M.

I'M STILL EXCITED TOO! MY FRIEND HASN'T CAUGHT UP YET BUT I DIDN'T KNOW, ONLY THAT SHE WATCHED THE SHOW, SO I MENTIONED KORRA AND ASAMI BUT THEN I CAUGHT MYSELF WITH 'OH, YOU KNOW, THE FANDOM IS JUST REALLY INTO THEM' AND SHE WAS LIKE 'REALLY? BECAUSE I HEARD THEY GOT TOGETHER AND I WAS SO HAPPY' SO I CONFIRMED THAT--ONCE I KNEW SHE DIDN'T MIND THE SPOILER--AND WE SQUEED ALL OVER THE PLACE TOGETHER.

I want to re-watch the whole series now but there's so much I already need to catch up on, haha.

Totally as happy and squeeful as you are! I think this is the Xena/Gabrielle of this decade for me.

Happy New Year!
